Welders choose the correct process for each type of metal used in welding. Metals are either ferrous or non-ferrous. Metals carry identification markings found in the "Metal Fabricator's Handbook."

Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW or TIG) uses a non-combustible tungsten electrode. TIG welding has many advantages and few disadvantages. TIG welding tools and equipment are presented, as are safety procedures.
