Strabismus affects four percent of American children, and the most common form is esotropia: crossed eyes. This program addresses the ongoing surgical correction of infantile esotropia in a 17-year-old woman as performed by ophthalmologist Richard Hertle, of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Special attention is given to the use of adjustable sutures and temporary knots, employed in order to allow postoperative adjustments.
