Ladies and gentlemen, we’re entering the landscape of the mind…put your seatbelts on! This three-DVD set leads students through the field of psychology, opening up inner-most dimensions of the human experience. Modules include:

·        The Basics: Psychology—it’s not just for the brainy! In this video, the Standard Deviants describe the origins of the field, examine various schools of psychological thought, and explore the nature vs. nurture debate. The program also focuses on the scientific method, experimental studies, dependent and independent variables, control groups, and the nervous system.

·        Responding to Stimuli: Viewers are in for a sensational experience! In this video, the Standard Deviants analyze the senses and their psychological importance. Subjects covered include the structures of the ear and eye, absolute threshold, just noticeable difference or JND, theories of motivation, Pavlov’s experiment in classical conditioning, generalization and discrimination, and more.

·        Learning and Development: Live and learn—that’s the Standard Deviants’ approach. This video demonstrates the link between learning and experience, explaining how the brain stores and prioritizes information. Cognitive development, encoding, long and short term memory, schemas, assimilation, accommodation, attachment, and Social Theory are all discussed.
