In this edition of the Journal, Bill Moyers spotlights community organizer James Thindwa of Jobs with Justice, whose campaign for economic fairness for workers in Chicago has brought him up against that city’s powerful political establishment and corporate giant Wal-Mart. Then, Moyers is joined by journalist William Greider—an expert on the collision of capitalism and democracy—who, in the midst of America’s economic meltdown, suggests answers to the question on everyone’s mind: “What do we do now?” The program concludes with an essay calling on the press to be more assertive and the President less controlling at news conferences while speculating on important questions that have been thus far left unasked. Broadcast date: March 27, 2009. (56 minutes)
