Once flooded with bicycles, China’s streets are now jammed with cars—while 9 million more vehicles enter the roadways every year. The PRC will soon become the world’s largest producer of cars as well as the biggest market for them, and with this in mind, the government is scrambling to build thousands of miles of highways.
