Windmill: Back to the Blueprint

One of the first machines to replace manpower, windmills have been in use since the 12th century. Originally used for simple tasks like threshing grain, at the height of the Industrial Revolution windmills like the 1890s construction featured in this video provided power to run entire farms and more. Built with redwood, this windmill is being restored and updated to meet current building codes in earthquake-prone California. Part of the series Back to the Blueprint.
