Theater Games: Workshopping Body Language in Shakespeare

In the world of Shakespeare, body language is as much a form of expression as the spoken word. In this program, dramatist Clive Barker, author of Theatre Games; award-winning actress Fiona Shaw; and Cicely Berry, voice director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, demonstrate the value of theater games as a method of improving physical engagement with Shakespeare’s works. Activities designed to sharpen concentration and deepen expression are enthusiastically carried out by workshop participants, leading to spirited renderings of Sonnet 57 and scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Macbeth, and King Lear. Produced by the Open University. (92 minutes)
