The Strangers Next Door: Welcoming Muslims

In a country where churches and synagogues are commonplace, the reaction to the proposed building of a mosque in a wealthy Detroit suburb illustrates the need for ecumenical dialogue. This CBS News program looks at interfaith efforts to welcome the Muslim religion—one of the three religions of the Book—more readily into American culture, specifically the work of The Greater Detroit Interfaith Roundtable in the suburb of Bloomfield Hills. Commentary from Jewish, Christian, and Muslim religious leaders and professionals is presented, as well as the first tri-faith meeting, or "trialogue," held in a mosque. Produced by CBS NEWS. (28 minutes)
