In this program, six leading contemporary designers discuss their technical and aesthetic approaches to making places for people to sit down. In keeping with the innovative spirit of design, the program blends stylishly filmed interviews with many examples, such as Alberto Meda’s aluminum injection technology chairs; Ross Lovegrove’s ergonomic chairs based on composite plastics; Charlotte Perriand’s work with tubing and cushions; Ron Arad’s sculpted steel furniture, notably “the well-tempered chair”; Antonio Citterio’s functional, ecologically minded business furniture; and Gaetano Pesce’s diversified series.
