Perched in a tree, Homo ergaster stealthily descends to scavenge the remains of a carcassonly to be pounced upon by a saber-toothed cat. This program presents an imaginative interpretation of what life might have been like for early hominids, from Homo ergaster and H. erectus through Neanderthals and the appearance of the Cro-Magnons, the first true humans. Computer-enhanced reenactments of daily survival dramatically show the path of human evolution through such milestones as the use of stone tools, fire, and rudimentary communication. A Discovery Channel Production. (50 minutes)
