Prison Boot Camp

At Cassidy Lake, they call it SAI, special alternative incarceration. This documentary follows a group of "trainees" from intake to graduation at America’s toughest prison boot camp: a 90-day military-style program that pushes participants to their limits with physical training, life skills education, substance abuse and anger management seminars, GED classes, and hard work. The mission: to motivate nonviolent offenders to take responsibility for their pasts and make a fresh start. Interviews with inmates—black and white, male and female—underscore the transformative effects of the regimen. Loved ones and SAI staff members offer their perspectives as well. A Discovery Channel Production. (51 minutes)
