The Spectrum of Murder

What motivates one person to kill another, and why are some developed countries—most notably the U.S.—more prone to homicide than others? These are the questions that anthropologist Elliott Leyton sets out to answer in this program as he analyzes the spectrum of murder, from single homicides to murder rampages and serial killings. Glimpses of infamous landmarks such as the Ted Bundy and Boston Strangler cases, interviews with death row inmates, footage of a homicide suspect interrogation, and a discussion of the effects of societal saturation with murder-related news, movies, and TV shows shed light on the dark psychology of killers. Contains explicit language. (50 minutes)
