This series of six programs uses vivid computer animation to introduce quadratic equations and their corresponding functions on the Cartesian plane. With different coefficients, several quadratic equations are solved and graphed on the plane and compared. The concept of a root is introduced, and methods for finding the roots of a quadratic equation are explored, including graphing, factoring into two binomials, and completing the square. This leads to the development of the quadratic formula, which can be applied to any quadratic equation. Complex numbers are presented, and the results of discovering complex roots for a quadratic are shown. 6-part series, 10 minutes each.
