 The concept of equations in general is introduced with the desire to find values for the variables that make the mathematical statements true. Quadratic equations are presented, and simplification to the general form is discussed. The parabolic shape is introduced (illustrated by the path of a thrown ball) and the quadratic equation is related to its corresponding quadratic function. (10 minutes)
