Mines and Minerals

This program tells how minerals are extracted from mines, purified, and shaped, tracing the path from mining exploration to the different uses of metal. We first see how geologists and geophysicists detect certain mineral concentrations from the earth’s crust and determine their potential economic worth. We also see how the mineral is extracted from the mine and refined into pure metal through several operations. Finally, we are shown the traditional techniques used to shape precious metals.
