A large river flows through the Everglades, its flow linked to the climate of the region and to the uphill drainage systems that threaten life in the Everglades. This program looks at the non-living systems of the Everglades and the flora and fauna they support: the humid prairies surrounded by wooded islands resembling tropical jungles; the mangrove forests where the river meets salt water; and the birds, alligators, and other animal inhabitants of this swampy region.
