Daily Life at the Vatican

This unprecedented and unique documentary takes us inside the least known major sovereign state in the world. We know the finished product: the Pope blessing the crowds, the angelic voices of the choir, the colorful and remote Swiss guards. This program shows us the life behind the scenes. With the cooperation of Vatican authorities, our camera follows a number of Vatican inhabitants in both their official and private duties: the Vatican exorcist, a Swiss guard, a cardinal, some nuns, the boy choir and their teacher, preparations for a canonization, the Vatican’s emcee—a panoply of people who carry out ordinary tasks in an extraordinary place. Like the Vatican itself, above the world and yet deeply anchored in it, the people chronicled here are more intensely human for living their lives within the frame of sanctity.
