Women

This program looks at women’s struggles, charting the milestones over the past hundred years, as women worked to improve their position in society, from the battle for suffrage, to control over their own bodies through birth control and abortion. The program features the personal stories of three women set against the background of the women’s movement: a Frenchwoman who defied the odds to become president of the European parliament; a woman minister who still gets wolf whistles; and a British woman who was instrumental in putting women to work in factories during the Second World War.
