This program focuses on some of the greatest leadership battles of the 20th century. The program looks first at the relationship between Winston Churchill and Hitler, and includes an interview with Churchill’s assistant, one of the few people still alive who was a close confidant of Churchill’s. The program goes on to explore the history and relationship between Mao Tse-tung and Chiang Kai-shek as the Communists rode to victory and the Nationalists were expelled to Taiwan. The third relationship examined is that of John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Pierre Salinger, Kennedy’s press secretary, and Khrushchev’s son provide personal accounts. Finally, the program looks at the Vietnam War and the roles of Ho Chi Minh and Richard Nixon. (49 minutes)
