Space (10:05)

It is possible that the first Mars colony could be established within 60 years. The scope of space exploration has greatly increased and created a wider search for water and life on other planets. New technology will play a major role in the future of human space travel.

Mars (10:46)

Mars is the best planet in the solar system to create a base and sustain human life. Space agencies and private companies are developing technology to transport humans to Mars for an extended stay. Mars' surfaces would need to be terraformed for human inhabitants.

Resource Depletion (04:27)

Earth is handing toward the first major extinction event caused by humans. Humans have been extracting natural resources and expanding technology without realizing the destruction they were causing.

Pollution (04:36)

More than 80% of the world's drinking water contains micro-plastic. Fossil fuels were used to modernize most societies, but the effects are crippling the environment. Air pollution is slowly becoming a major cause of death worldwide.

Climate Change (19:57)

Greenhouse gases have caused the planet's temperature to rise, which has changed global weather patterns. Even if no more greenhouse gas were released, the planet would continue to warm for a decade. Extreme weather events and sea level rise will worsen.

About 100 years after man stepped on the moon, it’s likely that we are in a position to colonize Mars. We are heading towards the creation of a planetary civilization in what will be the greatest transition in the history of humankind. A brave new world lies before us. And a high-speed race to reverse the poisoning of the planet. We used fossil fuels to take the big leap of the Industrial Revolution and during the 20th and 21st centuries. We filled the atmosphere with carbon dioxide, in an explosive way. Even if today we completely stopped sending carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the amount that has already been released is such that it is enough to cause global warming for decades to come, like a lung that is subject to the action of tobacco for years. How strange the climate with become depends on the measures we take today. Two degrees more are tolerable. Ten degrees more will have dramatic, unpredictable consequences, granting the impossibility of living in many territories which are inhabited today, as well as the relocation of cities by the coast.
