The Song Award (11:26)
The Lieder prize is an award given to the best song accompanied by piano alone or the orchestra. Many performers celebrate Schubert's birthday by including him in their repertoire. Lieder singers need a natural stage presence, serious intelligence, and something to say; Iain Burnside believes Nicole Heaston or Maltman will win.
Winners Announced (04:12)
Jury members include Anthony Freud, Marilyn Horne, Dame Joan Sutherland, Brian McMaster, Stuart Burrow, and the mayor of Cardiff. Maltman wins the Lieder Prize and Yang wins the competition.
